What’s the Point of Klout?

For the many thousands of hours that I’ve invested into the building and maintenance of my social media presence I can say that all of them have been worth the time and effort expended.

You may have experienced or at least heard of Klout.com, a site that claims to rank people’s social media influence. I was a late adopter on Klout. It took me a good long while to be convinced that what Klout was measuring was important, and that the score was relevant, and it WAS.

Recently Klout changed how it measures influence, and I am not impressed with the alleged improvement. It’s now safe to ignore Klout. I’ve taken my Klout badges off of my blogs. No one’s Klout scores mean anything any more.
